January's Member of the Month!

Back in Summer '16, when it was just Dante and the coaches!

Back in Summer '16, when it was just Dante and the coaches!

The first month is over! January, the month where resolutions are made and broken in an instant! But we don't have any of that at CrossFit Petram. We have THE.BEST.MEMBERS who keep the coaches motivated to come in and work with you all every single day. Not a day goes by where I do not check the class attendance before my classes and smile when I see the same awesome humans coming in and making themselves better.

We'd like to recognize Dante Principe for his awesome progress he's made since starting with us here at CrossFit Petram! Dante used to be our one lonely member of the 6:15 time slot, back when it was at 6:30 and often got one on one personal training. One of the best parts of CrossFit is the community environment that helps each of us stay accountable, and I don't know if I would have stuck with CrossFit when I first started without it. But despite the lack of a class, he came in and put his nose to the grind stone everyday. Now we have a packed 6:15 class thanks to all you amazing people, but the level of effort from Dante never changed. He is always in there working hard, and making gains.

Always working hard, leaving no man behind!

Always working hard, leaving no man behind!

Dante was always strong as an ox. But CrossFit is more than strength. Actually, the 10 pillars of CrossFit are defined as:

  1. Cardiovascular / respiratory endurance – The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.

  2. Stamina – The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.

  3. Strength – The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.

  4. Flexibility – The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.

  5. Power – The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.

  6. Speed – The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.

  7. Coordination – The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.

  8. Agility – The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.

  9. Balance – The ability to control the placement of the body’s center of gravity in relation to its support base.

  10. Accuracy – The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given items.

I would recommend each of our members go ahead and see where they've improved in all 10 of these items since they have begun their journey with us!

Enjoying a couple post workout beers after a hard days work! Petram is more than a gym!

Over the past few months, we've seen an increase in all of these aspects, but most importantly FLEXIBILITY! No more "No Reps" from Coach Nick is the goal in 2017! Squat depth is constantly improving, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

Thank you for sticking through the small classes, consistently bringing that positive energy when you walk in the door, and having the best conversations with all of us during post work out beers! Your hard work is inspiring, and your attitude is second to none. Congratulations on being January's Member of the Month!
